Ranching knowledge is disappearing with the generation that holds it.

Most ranch kids didn’t grow up the way their parents did. The knowledge of how to manage land, water, and cattle across thousands of acres lives in one person’s head—and when they’re gone, the ranch usually goes with them.

  • Operations that can’t run without one person’s memory
  • No way to hand off what took a lifetime to learn
  • Water failures, lost cattle, and compliance gaps that only experience catches
  • A next generation that wants to keep it going but doesn’t know where to start

The ranch doesn’t need more hands. It needs a system that makes the knowledge transferable.

Tag it. Get data. No infrastructure.

Direct-to-satellite

Data goes straight from the tag to satellites overhead. No cell towers, no base stations, no gateways to install or maintain. If you can see the sky, it works.

Other trackers need infrastructure. This one needs open sky.

Solar-powered & rugged

No battery swaps. No riding out to replace tags. Solar charging keeps it running for years in the harshest conditions—heat, cold, rain, dust, hooves.

Deploy it once. Never touch it again.

Updated every hour

GPS position, health indicators, and behavior data refreshed every 60 minutes. Know where every animal is, where they’ve been, and when something’s off.

Find cattle in minutes, not days.

No gateways to buy. No base stations to power. No technician visits. Just a tag and a satellite.

Overwatch Tag — rugged enclosure designed to survive years in the fieldRugged by design
Overwatch Tag — custom PCB with NTN satellite modemBuilt for longevity
Overwatch Tag — solar energy harvesting circuitSolar energy harvesting

Custom hardware. Custom firmware. Every component selected for durability, efficiency, and years of maintenance-free operation.

Stop driving out to check things that are fine.

Water

Wells, tanks & pumps

A failed pump costs you cattle before you even know it’s down. Overwatch sensors alert you the moment a level drops or a pump stops—not days later when you drive out.

Land

Soil, weather & fences

Soil moisture, temperature, wind, precipitation, and fence integrity. Know the actual conditions on the ground so you can rotate smarter and respond before problems compound.

Ops

Gates & equipment

Gates left open, feeders running low, equipment offline. Every sensor is solar-powered, maintenance-free, and talks directly to satellite—same as the tags.

Field to phone. No cell towers required.

Alerts that matter

Water low, animal off-property, sensor offline. You get notified the moment something needs attention—not a feed of noise you learn to ignore.

Pasture analytics

See exactly where your cattle have been, how your pastures are being used, and when to rotate. Data replaces guesswork.

One-click compliance

Grazing reports, regulator documentation, buyer records—generated automatically from data you’re already collecting. The paperwork builds itself.

Other trackers need infrastructure.
Overwatch needs open sky.

Every other livestock tracker on the market requires cell towers, LoRa gateways, or base stations you have to buy, install, power, and maintain. That’s thousands of dollars and days of setup before you get a single data point. And when the gateway goes down, you’re blind again.

Overwatch tags and sensors talk directly to satellites. No equipment to install. No ongoing maintenance. You tag an animal in the morning and have location data by lunch.

  • Direct-to-satellite—no towers, gateways, or base stations
  • Solar-powered—no batteries to swap, ever
  • Updated every hour—highest throughput in the category
  • Lowest per-head cost at scale
  • Setup in minutes—not days, not a technician visit

No permitting headaches

No gateways or base stations means nothing to permit, nothing to install on BLM or Forest Service land. Skip months of paperwork and approvals.

Nothing in the ground

No trenching, no concrete pads, no solar panels bolted to posts. The land stays exactly as it is. Monitor everything without touching anything.

Keep cattle safe

Health and behavior monitoring catches problems early. Boundary alerts when animals stray. Water alerts before they go thirsty.

Overwatch is step one.
Here’s where we’re going.

We’re not building a tracker. We’re building the operating system for the modern ranch—an autonomous ecosystem where sensors, drones, and AI work the land alongside you.

The autonomous ranch of the future — drones, robots, and cattle on open rangeland

Every animal, always visible

Real-time location, health, and behavior data on every head—from the most remote rangeland on Earth. No more searching. No more guessing.

Every asset, always monitored

Water, soil, weather, fences, equipment. Problems detected and flagged before they cost you. The ranch watches itself.

Drones & robots in the field

Autonomous aerial surveys, fence inspection, predator monitoring. Ground systems for feeding, herding, and maintenance. The crew that never sleeps.

AI that learns your operation

Machine learning that optimizes rotations, predicts health issues, and manages resources—getting smarter every season from your own data.

This started with our own ranch.

Our family ranch was on the verge of being lost. My dad picked up the reins when no one else could—put in the years of hard work to turn it around and keep the legacy going.

Working alongside him, I saw the same problems every rancher faces: water failures you find out about too late, cattle lost in rough country, days burned driving to check on things that are fine. And I realized that digitizing the ranch wasn’t optional—it was existential. Without it, there’s no realistic path to keeping an operation like this going long-term.

Open Range Systems exists because we needed it first. Everything we build, we build for ranches like ours.
